Our bathroom accessories
Bathroom accessories usually come last in a project, but they are the pieces you touch every day: the dispenser beside the sink, the robe hook near the shower, the towel bar, the toilet paper holder. Our selection covers those everyday needs, from small hooks under €15 to complete natural-stone sets.

Which bathroom accessories should you choose?
Four accessories are enough to make a bathroom functional. Everything else adds comfort. Quantity matters less than placement, which should be decided before the first hole is drilled.
| Accessory |
Where to place it |
Height |
| Soap dish or dispenser | Beside the sink, on the dominant-hand side | On the countertop, or wall-mounted at 110 cm |
| Toilet brush holder | Beside the toilet, against the wall | On the floor, or wall-mounted at 20 cm |
| Hook | Within reach from the shower, never directly in the spray | 150 to 170 cm |
| Toilet paper holder | On the opening side, within seated reach | 70 cm, around 20 cm forward of the bowl |
Poor hook placement remains one of the most common mistakes. Too close to the shower and the robe gets wet. Too far away and you have to step out dripping to reach it. The right distance is easy to test: stand inside the shower, open the door slightly, and reach out with your arm.
Comfort accessories come next: a tumbler for toothbrushes, a cotton-swab box, a tray for bottles, or a non-slip bath mat beside the bathtub. Each one solves a specific problem. Add them as you use the room rather than buying everything on day one.
Drill or no drill?
No-drill mounting systems have improved considerably, but their performance still depends on the surface. Check the wall material before you choose the style.
- Stainless-steel lever suction cup: works on perfectly smooth, non-porous surfaces such as glossy tile, glass, and laminate panels. It can be repositioned, which lets you test placement first. Our set of four 304 stainless-steel suction hooks uses a Twist & Lock system with no drilling.
- Mounting adhesive: more forgiving on surfaces, but limited in load capacity. Fine for a soap dish, not ideal for a wet robe.
- Screws and wall plugs: the only reliable option for sustained load and long-term use, best reserved for positions you are sure about.
The five-second surface test
Run your palm over the wall. If you feel even slight texture, a suction cup is unlikely to hold over time. Glossy glazed tile works well, while matte or textured tile does not. Satin paint can be deceptive because it looks smooth but may still let air pass under the suction cup.
In a rental, suction mounting avoids patching holes when you leave. In a home you own, screws remain the safer choice for a towel bar carrying damp towels.
Materials that hold up in a humid room
Bathroom accessories are exposed to water, soap, and steam every day. Three materials are especially reliable over time, while lower-grade alternatives can deteriorate much faster.
- Solid brass: does not rust and is available in chrome, satin gold, and matte black. Weight is a useful quality clue because brass is much heavier than zamak at the same size.
- 304 stainless steel: a reference material for humid environments, highly resistant to corrosion, including near the coast.
- Ceramic and glass: ideal for countertop soap dishes, but breakable if dropped.
- Natural stone: travertine and marble, each with unique veining. Porous stone should not be cleaned with acidic products. A soft cloth is enough.
- Wood: warm and tactile, but best kept away from direct spray and wiped regularly.
Avoid low-grade chrome-plated steel where possible. The chrome can begin to peel around welds after a few years, exposing rust that may permanently stain pale tile.
Soap dish, dispenser, or both?
The choice depends on the soap you use, not on the style. A bar of soap needs a draining dish, while liquid soap needs a sealed dispenser.
A non-draining soap dish is the classic mistake. The soap sits in water, dissolves faster, and leaves residue that needs frequent cleaning. A dish with drainage slots or a raised grid solves the problem.
A wall-mounted dispenser clears the countertop and cannot be knocked over. A countertop dispenser is easier to move and refill. A refillable ceramic model such as SOBRINA keeps the sink area visually clean without a plastic bottle in sight. Natural-stone sets coordinate the dispenser with a soap dish or tumbler.
Organizing bathroom storage
A cluttered bathroom feels smaller than it is. Good storage starts with one simple rule: every everyday object needs a fixed place within easy reach and away from splash zones.
- Around the sink: a tray groups bottles, tumbler, and cotton-swab box so the countertop can be wiped in one motion.
- Inside the shower: a built-in niche, or an angled shelf when there is no niche, keeps shampoo and shower gel off the floor.
- On the wall: hooks, towel bars, and towel shelves free up floor space.
- Under the sink: a vanity with drawers, or a natural-fiber storage basket for clean towels.

Designer bathroom accessories: key styles
A designer accessory is not only decoration. It helps define the tone of the room, just like the faucets or mirror.
- Mineral: travertine, marble, and stone-effect resin in beige or gray for a warm spa-inspired feel.
- Knurled brass: textured hooks with a refined retro character.
- Contemporary metal: the MÉRIDIEN range in black, gunmetal gray, brushed copper, brushed gold, and polished chrome for a clean modern room.
- Wood: walnut paired with brass on towel holders, ideal for warming up a white bathroom.
For current inspiration, see our guide to bathroom design trends. Matte black, chrome, and white each call for different accessory choices.
Coordinating accessories with faucets
This is where a carefully designed bathroom separates itself from one that is simply equipped. Accessories are installed last, but they can either unify the room or break the visual consistency.
The rule is simple: match accessory finishes to the faucets, not to the vanity. Chrome with chrome, matte black with matte black, satin gold with satin gold. The vanity and tile belong to a different material palette and do not need to match the metal finish.
Start with the bathroom faucet because its finish becomes the reference point. The shower faucet, bathtub faucet, and accessories follow. To choose or replace the sink faucet, explore our bathroom faucets. The mirror frame can follow the same logic: a gold-framed bathroom mirror pairs naturally with gold-tone fixtures.
If you intentionally mix finishes, keep it to two at most and give each a role. For example, use warm metal for faucets and black for accessories. Three metal finishes in a 5 m² bathroom can quickly feel visually busy.
Toilet-area accessories
In many homes, the toilet is inside the bathroom. Its accessories deserve the same attention as the shower area.
- Toilet paper holder: within easy reach when seated, on the opening side. A wall-mounted version keeps the floor clear for cleaning.
- Toilet brush holder: closed, easy to empty, and coordinated with the toilet paper holder. MÉRIDIEN offers both in five finishes.
- Hygiene hand shower: connected to the toilet water supply and can reduce toilet-paper use. Our FIBRA kit is available in brushed gold or matte black.
Before buying, measure the space between the toilet and the side wall. In a tight layout, a wall-mounted holder works better than a floor-standing model.
Small bathrooms: saving space
In a small bathroom, every centimeter of floor space matters. Wall-mounted accessories become the rule rather than the exception.
- Use vertical space: add a shelf above the toilet or a towel bar on the back of the door.
- Group items: a coordinated set on one tray takes up less visual space than five unrelated objects.
- Keep it light: a white accessory on a white wall blends in, while a dark accessory on a pale wall draws attention.
- Combine functions: a 2-in-1 dispenser with sponge holder, such as PLUVENA, replaces two separate items.
A wall-mounted solution generally takes up less room than a floor-standing one. Our guide comparing wall-mounted, freestanding, and ladder towel racks can help you choose based on available space.
White, black, or gold: choosing the color
Accessory color should follow the faucet finish. Three main families dominate modern bathroom design:
- Metallic neutrals: polished chrome, brushed silver, brushed nickel. Easy to coordinate and visually discreet on white tile.
- Matte black: graphic and modern. It shows limescale more readily and benefits from frequent wiping.
- Warm metals: brushed gold, brushed copper, aged brass. They warm up cooler rooms, especially alongside wood or beige stone.
To judge the finish before buying, place a tile sample beside the product image in daylight. Room lighting can change the perceived color significantly.
Bathroom accessory prices
Price mainly reflects material, finish, and manufacturing. In our current collection:
- Under €20: solid-brass hooks, an easy way to start with a lower budget.
- €25 to €100: ceramic dispensers, most MÉRIDIEN pieces, and towel holders.
- Over €100: complete natural-stone sets, double bars and MÉRIDIEN towel shelves, and hygiene hand-shower kits.
A cheap accessory often needs replacing sooner because chrome peels or suction systems fail. Price comparisons only make sense at equivalent quality. For a first purchase, start with the pieces you use most, then add matching pieces from the same range over time.
Individual pieces or a complete set
Both approaches make sense. Buying individually lets you replace one item, test a finish, or spread out the budget. Buying a set gives you immediate visual consistency. Our travertine sets are available both as individual pieces and complete sets.
Whichever route you choose, keep a record of the range you bought so you can add a matching soap dish later. You can also explore the wider bathroom collection to continue the same design language.
A practical gift idea
A travertine bathroom set, ceramic dispenser, or set of brass hooks makes a useful and decorative gift that does not require knowing the exact room dimensions. For a housewarming gift, a coordinated set is an easy choice.
How to care for bathroom accessories
Gentle care extends the life of each piece, just as it does with faucets.
- Metal: damp microfiber cloth and a little soap, never abrasive powder.
- Stone: dry cloth after use, no vinegar.
- Ceramic: a soft sponge is enough.
- Wood: wipe away splashes and ventilate the room.
Humidity is the common enemy. Ventilate after showering. Our guide to bathroom humidity covers the right habits.
Frequently asked questions
Which bathroom accessories should I choose?
A dispenser or soap dish beside the sink, a toilet brush holder beside the toilet, a hook within reach of the shower, and a toilet paper holder on the opening side. Everything else adds comfort. Placement matters more than quantity.
Where can I buy bathroom accessories?
This collection includes hooks, dispensers, natural-stone sets, towel racks, and MÉRIDIEN pieces. Each product page lists finishes, dimensions, and prices. Our customer service team can answer questions before you order.
How much do bathroom accessories cost?
In our range, prices start at €13.95 for a solid-brass hook and reach €314.95 for a hand-carved travertine set. Most individually sold pieces fall between €30 and €100.
Which designer bathroom accessories work best?
Travertine or marble sets for a mineral look, MÉRIDIEN in brushed copper, brushed gold, or black for a contemporary style, and knurled brass hooks for a retro note.
How can I make my bathroom more comfortable?
Place hooks where they are easy to reach, add a towel bar near the shower, use a non-slip mat, and choose a pump dispenser. An electric towel warmer adds extra comfort in winter.
How should I organize my bathroom?
Give every object a fixed place: tray around the sink, niche in the shower, wall hooks, and a basket or drawers under the sink. Keeping the floor clear makes the room feel larger.
Which affordable bathroom accessories should I choose?
Our solid-brass hooks start at €13.95 and the SOBRINA dispenser at €28.95. A few durable pieces are usually better than many low-quality pieces that may rust.
How can I mount an accessory without drilling?
Use a lever suction cup on a perfectly smooth, non-porous surface, or adhesive on a more forgiving surface when the load is light. Test the wall with your palm first: if it feels textured, suction will not hold reliably.
How high should a bathroom hook be installed?
Between 150 and 170 cm from the floor, within arm's reach from inside the shower. Test the position before drilling. See our bathroom hooks.
