Bathtub faucets: our selection at a glance
Choose a bathtub faucet first according to the bathtub it will serve, then according to the style of the room. Our collection includes eight models: three wall-mounted faucets, three freestanding faucets for freestanding tubs, and two concealed faucets installed in the wall, including one thermostatic model.

| AUSTRO, wall-mounted bathtub faucet | Wall-mounted | €290 |
| DILUVIO, thermostatic bath faucet | Concealed, 15, 21, or 26 cm spout | €320 to €360 |
| GORGO, signature piece | Freestanding, floor-mounted | €390 |
| RIVO, solid brass | Wall-mounted | €438.95 |

How to choose a bathtub faucet
The decision happens in two stages: first the installation type, dictated by the bathtub layout, then the options. A bathtub against a wall can use a wall-mounted or concealed faucet. A freestanding bathtub positioned away from a wall requires a floor-mounted faucet. A concealed faucet creates the cleanest look but requires an open partition and an access panel.
Then ask four questions: do you want a hand shower, do you prefer a single-lever, two-handle, or thermostatic control, what spout length fits the tub, and which finish coordinates with the rest of the bathroom?
Standard wall center spacing: 150 mm.
Wall-mounted faucet height: 15 to 20 cm above the bathtub rim.
Wall depth for concealed models: minimum 80 mm behind the trim plate.
Spout length: the water should land around one-third of the way across the tub.
Types of bathtub faucets
| Type | Where it mounts | Best suited to |
| Wall-mounted | On the wall above the rim | Built-in or back-to-wall bathtub, easiest replacement option |
| Freestanding | On the floor beside the bathtub | Freestanding bathtub with supplies rising through the floor |
| Concealed | Body inside the wall, flush trim plate | Back-to-wall bathtub, cleanest architectural result |
| Deck-mounted | Drilled through the bathtub rim or deck | Bathtub with a wide deck, not currently part of our selection |
Wall-mounted bathtub faucet
This is the most common option and the easiest to replace. The body attaches to two eccentric fittings at 150 mm centers and remains accessible. If the existing installation uses standard spacing, replacing the faucet does not require opening the wall. AUSTRO starts at €290, RIVO uses a solid-brass body, and FLUSSO is positioned as the reinforced-construction option.
Freestanding faucet for a freestanding bathtub
A bathtub positioned away from the wall needs a floor-mounted faucet. The column rises beside the bathtub, with the spout passing over the rim and, on many models, a hand shower on its own holder. It becomes part of the room's design.
The water supplies must rise through the floor at the exact faucet location, so this decision has to be made before the floor is finished. GORGO, TORBERNITE, and CASCATA make up our freestanding selection, from €390 to €624.99. CASCATA is distinguished by marble knobs, while TORBERNITE uses knurled handles. Pair them with our freestanding bathtubs.
Concealed bathtub faucet
The body disappears into the wall, leaving only the trim plate, controls, and water outlet visible. The concealed body is installed before tiling, pressure-tested before the wall is closed, and finished with the trim plate at the end. DILUVIO is our thermostatic model with 15, 21, or 26 cm spouts. VENA is the premium concealed option.
Deck-mounted bathtub faucet
Also called a rim-mounted faucet, it is installed directly through the bathtub deck in one-, three-, or four-hole configurations. The bathtub rim must be wide enough and either factory-drilled or designed for drilling. We do not currently offer this configuration.
Single-lever, two-handle, or thermostatic
- Two-handle mixer: separate hot and cold controls, often chosen for a more classic look.
- Single-lever faucet: one control for flow and temperature, using a ceramic cartridge. This is the most common configuration and generally the simplest to maintain.
- Thermostatic faucet: one control for temperature, one for flow, with a cartridge that compensates for pressure changes and a 38°C safety stop.
For a bathtub, flow rate matters as much as the control type. Allow at least 20 liters per minute to fill a 160-liter bathtub in a reasonable time. Below 15 liters per minute, filling can take more than fifteen minutes. A thermostatic model is particularly useful in family bathrooms because of its 38°C anti-scald stop.
With or without a hand shower
A hand shower makes the bathtub more versatile. It is useful for rinsing hair, cleaning the tub, bathing children or pets, and showering in the bathtub. A bath-shower faucet combines a tub spout with a hand shower on a hose.
If you want a fixed overhead shower as well, add a shower column or choose a separate showerhead.
Three points to check on models with a hand shower
- Hose length: 150 cm is enough for a standard bathtub, while 175 cm is more comfortable on a larger tub.
- Diverter reset: it should return to the tub spout when the water is turned off.
- Backflow prevention: essential to prevent bath water from being siphoned back into the supply.
Spout length and shape
For wall-mounted and concealed faucets, measure the distance between the wall and the center of the tub. The stream should fall roughly one-third of the way across the tub. DILUVIO is offered with 15, 21, and 26 cm spouts for this reason.
A standard aerated spout creates a concentrated stream. A waterfall spout produces a wide sheet of water with a stronger visual effect, but it can splash more and is better suited to deeper tubs.
Finishes and materials
Depending on the model, our finishes include polished chrome, matte black, gunmetal, brushed gold, polished gold, brushed copper, polished copper, brushed nickel, brushed brass, and matte white. Solid brass remains the reference body material because it resists corrosion and hot water.
- Polished chrome: easiest to live with, although water spots remain visible.
- Matte black: highly decorative, but avoid acidic bath salts and aggressive descalers.
- Brushed finishes: warmer in appearance and generally good at disguising light mineral marks.
Installation
For wall-mounted installation, set the eccentric fittings to the correct center spacing, add the escutcheons, then mount the faucet body with its seals. For concealed installation, fit the body inside the wall, pressure-test before closing the wall, tile, then install the trim plate. Always plan an access panel for serviceable components.
Accessories to plan for
- A hand-shower kit with holder and hose when the faucet does not include one.
- A hose of the correct length for the tub size.
- Eccentric fittings and escutcheons for wall-mounted installation.
- A matching bathtub waste and overflow. If the tub becomes blocked, see our guide on unclogging a bathtub.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best bathtub faucet?
The best faucet is the one that matches the installation first. For a freestanding tub, choose a floor-mounted faucet. For a bathtub against a wall, choose wall-mounted or concealed. Then check for a solid-brass body, ceramic cartridge, and a flow rate of at least 20 liters per minute.
How do I choose a bathtub faucet?
Start with the installation type dictated by the bathtub: wall-mounted or concealed for a back-to-wall tub, freestanding for a freestanding tub. Then choose between standard and thermostatic control, whether you need a hand shower, and the correct spout length.
What types of bathtub faucets are available?
Four main installation types exist: wall-mounted, concealed, freestanding, and deck-mounted. They can use two handles, a single lever, or thermostatic control, with or without a hand shower.
Where can I buy an affordable bathtub faucet?
Entry-level options are widely available online and in home-improvement stores. In our collection, AUSTRO starts at €290 and is offered in polished chrome, gunmetal, and brushed gold.
Which finishes are available?
Depending on the model: polished chrome, matte black, gunmetal, brushed gold, polished gold, brushed copper, polished copper, brushed nickel, brushed brass, and matte white.
How do I install a bathtub faucet?
For wall-mounted models, install the eccentric fittings at the correct spacing and mount the body with its seals. For concealed models, install the body inside the wall, pressure-test before closing, tile, then fit the trim plate. Plan an access panel in either case.
How high should a wall-mounted bathtub faucet be?
About 15 to 20 cm above the bathtub rim, measured to the centerline of the faucet body.
How long does it take to fill a bathtub?
At 20 liters per minute, a 160-liter tub fills in about eight minutes. Below 15 liters per minute, filling can take more than fifteen minutes.
Can I use a shower faucet on a bathtub?
Technically yes if the centers match, but many shower faucets are limited to around 10 liters per minute, which can double filling time. A bathtub faucet is better suited to the required flow.
Which accessories do I need?
A hand-shower kit, a correctly sized hose, eccentric fittings for wall installation, and a matching bathtub waste and overflow.
