    Vessel Sink

    Our glazed ceramic vessel sinks

A vessel sink sits on top of a vanity or countertop instead of being recessed into it. It becomes a visible element of the sink area, almost a decorative object. Our collection includes four ceramic vessel sinks: three round designs and one elongated oval model.

    SinkShapeFinishPrice
    AVORIORoundWhite€260
    CEREORoundCream beige€260
    OPALINORoundGray-beige two-tone€260
    LATTATOOvalWood effect€360

The three round models share the same price. LATTATO stands apart with its elongated shape and wood-effect finish. Before ordering the vanity, check the exact dimensions on the product page of the sink you choose.

How to choose a vessel sink

Four criteria matter, in this order: the finished vanity height once the sink is installed, the sink diameter in relation to the countertop, whether the sink has an overflow, and the material. Shape comes last because it does not determine the technical setup.

Target finished height: 85 cm from the floor to the top edge of the sink.

Vanity height: 70 to 73 cm for a sink that is 12 to 15 cm high.

Minimum side clearance: 5 cm on each side.

Cutout diameter: the drain diameter, not the sink diameter.

The most common mistake is installing a vessel sink on a standard 85 cm vanity. The rim ends up around 100 cm from the floor, which is too high for comfortable use. Work backward from the desired 85 cm finished height and subtract the sink height to determine the right vanity height. See our guides to vessel sink height and drains and bathroom vanity height.

    Vessel sink vs. recessed sink

    • Design: a vessel sink creates a visible volume and becomes part of the room's design. A recessed sink is more discreet.
    • Storage: because the sink sits on the countertop, more of the vanity interior remains usable. Only the drain passes through the top.
    • Cleaning: the base of the vessel sink needs wiping where moisture can collect. A recessed sink is easier to wipe across in one motion.

Installation is also simpler because there is no need to cut the countertop to the full sink profile. A single hole for the drain is usually enough.

    Shapes and dimensions

    ShapeTypical footprintBest suited to
Round36 to 42 cm diameterNarrow vanity, frees the corners, two sinks possible from around 120 cm
Oval40 to 50 cm x 33 to 38 cmMore usable bowl area for family use
SquareSimilar footprint to a round sinkGraphic look, corners take longer to clean
RectangularWider than deepLong vanities with straight lines

Our current range includes round vessel sinks and the oval LATTATO. Square and rectangular vessel sinks are not part of the current selection. For a double-sink setup, allow at least 120 cm of countertop and around 20 cm between bowls.

    Glazed ceramic and color finishes

Glazed ceramic has a non-porous surface. It resists staining, handles everyday household cleaners well, and is easy to clean with a sponge. It is one of the easiest materials to live with in a family bathroom.

Our finishes range from AVORIO in classic white to CEREO in cream beige, OPALINO in gray-beige two-tone, and LATTATO in a wood-effect finish. White ceramic remains the most versatile option because it coordinates easily with almost any vanity and faucet finish.

    Everyday care

    • Use a sponge and non-abrasive cleaner. Never use a metal scouring pad.
    • For limescale, use diluted white vinegar and rinse afterward. Glazed ceramic tolerates it better than natural stone.
    • Dry colored sinks after use because dried droplets are more visible than on white.

    Overflow, drain, and waste connection

Whether the sink has an overflow determines which drain you need. A sink with an overflow uses a drain with side openings so overflow water can enter it. A sink without an overflow requires a solid, non-slotted drain. The two are not interchangeable.

For a sink without an overflow, never leave the faucet running unattended. If the vanity has a drawer directly below the bowl, use an offset or space-saving trap so the waste does not run through the drawer.

Which faucet for a vessel sink?

    Sink heightRecommended faucet
    10 to 12 cm22 to 28 cm, high-spout faucet
    13 to 15 cm28 to 35 cm, extra-high faucet
    More than 15 cmWall-mounted or ceiling-mounted faucet

Aim for 8 to 12 cm between the spout outlet and the bottom of the bowl. The stream should land over or slightly forward of the drain. Choose either a tall deck-mounted faucet beside the sink or a wall-mounted faucet that keeps the countertop completely clear. Browse our bathroom faucets.

Pairing the sink with the vanity and countertop

A vessel sink needs a stable, perfectly flat support. That can be a vanity with a countertop, a wood or stone counter, or a suitably cut worktop. Browse our bathroom vanities. Above it, a centered bathroom mirror completes the composition.

In a compact powder room, a small round sink on a narrow vanity may be enough. Coordinate smaller accessories such as a soap dish or soap dispenser with the sink and faucet finish.

    Installing a vessel sink

    1. Check the vanity height before anything else.
    2. Dry-fit the sink on the countertop and mark the drain center.
    3. Drill the opening to the drain diameter, using the correct tool for wood or stone.
    4. Apply a thin continuous bead of silicone around the contact area.
    5. Install the correct drain with its conical seal on the sink side.
    6. Connect the trap, fill the bowl, then drain it all at once to test the connection under full flow.

    The test most people skip

Fill the sink to the top and drain it in one go. A leak at the drain can remain invisible under a small trickle and only show up under full flow. Test before storing anything inside the vanity.

    Vessel sink prices

AVORIO, CEREO, and OPALINO are €260. LATTATO is €360. Material and finish drive most of the price difference, with ceramic remaining one of the more accessible options. Remember to budget separately for the drain, trap, and faucet.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a vessel sink?

Start with a finished height of about 85 cm from the floor to the sink rim, then subtract the sink height to determine the vanity height. Check side clearance, overflow configuration, and shape.

What vanity height works with a vessel sink?

About 70 to 73 cm for a 12 to 15 cm-high sink, to achieve an overall finished height of around 85 cm.

How do you install a vessel sink?

Dry-fit the sink, mark the drain center, drill to the correct diameter, apply a thin silicone bead, install the correct drain, connect the trap, and test by draining a full bowl.

    Which materials are available?

Glazed ceramic is the default in our collection. Other market options include stone, marble, glass, resin, terrazzo, and stainless steel.

What types of vessel sinks are there?

They are mainly categorized by shape and material. Our current selection includes three round ceramic vessel sinks and one oval ceramic vessel sink.

Should I choose a sink with an overflow?

An overflow adds protection against accidental overfilling. A sink without an overflow creates a cleaner interior line but requires a solid, non-slotted drain.

What are the common vessel sink shapes?

Round sinks commonly measure 36 to 42 cm in diameter. Oval sinks often measure around 40 to 50 cm by 33 to 38 cm.

How much does a vessel sink cost?

At Aéraly, our round ceramic sinks are €260 and LATTATO is €360.

Where can I buy a vessel sink?

Online or in-store. When shopping online, check that the product page clearly lists the dimensions and compatible drain type.

Which vessel sink brands are best?

The brand name matters less than three verifiable points: material, compatibility between the overflow and drain, and dimensions that work with your vanity.

The sink is only one part of the vanity area. Explore our complete bathroom collection.
