    BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

    The questions that truly matter.

Installation, wattage, Wi-Fi, finish: the answers that help prevent surprises after you order.

Which towel warmer should I choose if my renovation is still in progress?

If the wall is still accessible, truly built-in models such as ICONA, CARBO, STÈLE, ORIZZO, SOLCO, MINIMA, MODULO, or FLUSH allow the technical components to be integrated before the wall is finished. If you would rather avoid opening the wall, SENSO, FIVE, KINETIC, or SCALA are better suited.

What is the difference between a wall-mounted model and a built-in model?

SENSO and FIVE are wall-mounted models: the body remains mounted on the wall, but you can choose either a plug or concealed wiring. Built-in models require the wall to be prepared so the technical components can be integrated before the final wall finish.

Can SENSO and FIVE be used with a plug or with no visible cable?

Yes. Both are available with a plug connection or concealed wiring. The cable can therefore disappear without turning SENSO or FIVE into built-in models.

My bathroom is already finished. Can I still choose Aéraly?

Yes. SENSO and FIVE are the most straightforward choices for a design-forward look without true in-wall installation. KINETIC mounts to the wall and plugs into an outlet, while SCALA is freestanding and requires no drilling.

Horizontal or vertical: how do I choose?

Start with your wall. A vertical format makes better use of a narrow area, while a horizontal format uses the available width and can make multi-towel layouts easier. The right choice depends first on your layout, then on the look you want.

Can an Aéraly towel warmer replace the bathroom’s primary heat source?

These models are designed first and foremost to warm and dry towels. Their wattage should not be used on its own to size the room’s primary heating system. If you need to heat the bathroom itself, plan for a separately sized heating solution for that purpose.

How do I choose the right finish?

Your faucet is the easiest reference point. A consistent finish across the faucet, accessories, and towel warmer instantly makes the room feel intentionally designed as a whole. If you are unsure, send us a photo or your plan.

What does the Wi-Fi option allow me to do?

On compatible models, the Smart Life or Tuya app lets you control power, temperature, device status, timers, and recurring schedules. The controls on the unit itself remain fully available.

I am deciding between two models. Can you help before I order?

Yes. Send us a photo or plan, the available dimensions, and, if possible, the finish of your faucet. Our team will reply within 24 hours to help you make the right choice.

    NOT SURE BEFORE ORDERING?

Send us your wall, your plan, or what you are deciding between.

Model choice, installation, finish, number of bars: a real person from our team will reply within 24 hours.

Electric, hot water, or dual-fuel: the three families

An electric towel warmer operates autonomously, independently of the boiler. A hot water model connects to the central heating circuit and shuts off with it out of season. A dual-fuel model combines both.

Family Operation When to choose it
Electric Autonomous heating element powered by the electrical panel Works all year round, even when central heating is off. The solution for renovations, no plumbing connection required.
Hot water Connected to the boiler or heat pump circuit Gentle heat, cost linked to the home's energy source. However, no heat outside the heating season.
Dual-fuel Hot water circuit plus auxiliary electric heating element Comfort all year round, at the cost of a dual installation.

In renovations, electric is almost always the way to go: it avoids touching the plumbing network and is installed on a simple dedicated circuit.

    Electric heating technologies

Within the electric family, four technologies coexist, each providing a different level of comfort.

    • Heat-transfer fluid: a heating element warms a liquid that circulates through the tubes. Slow warm-up, gentle heat, long-lasting inertia after shutdown.
    • Dry radiant: the heating element directly warms the blades or tubes. Fast warm-up, no inertia.
    • Carbon fiber: a high-end radiant heater, still rare on the market. Very fast warm-up, no fluid, so no risk of leaks.
    • Fan-assisted: a blower adds a stream of hot air to bring the room up to temperature in a few minutes. Very practical in the morning, energy-intensive.

The choice depends on your usage. Short heating programmed before a shower calls for a radiant or carbon fiber model. A bathroom you want to keep warm at all times calls for a heat-transfer fluid model. A cold room that needs to be warmed up quickly calls for a fan function.

How to choose the power of a towel warmer

Power is sized based on the room's surface area and its insulation level. Two rules are enough, and they yield very different results for the same bathroom.

    Drying only: 50 to 60 W per m², i.e., 300 W for a small 5 m² room.

Room heating: 100 W per m², i.e., 500 W for the same room.

Surcharge: add 20% if the bathroom is poorly insulated or faces the outside.

Installation height: 110 cm from the finished floor to the bottom of the unit, outside of protection zones.

These dimensions assume a ceiling height of 2.50 m and a properly insulated home. In an attic bathroom or an old building, the 20% surcharge becomes a minimum.

The number of towels counts as much as the watts. One bar supports two bath towels without them touching. Two towels stacked on the same bar will not dry; they trap moisture and prolong the heating time. For a household of four, a five-bar 100 W model dries better than a three-bar 130 W model.

    Recessed, wall-mounted, or freestanding

The type of installation determines the scope of work much more than the final look. It must be decided before the work begins, not after.

Installation What it provides What it requires
Recessed into the wall The technical part disappears into the wall, only the bars remain visible. A real space-saver. Open partition, concealed wiring, pre-planned cutout
Wall-mounted Two fixing points with anchors adapted to the support, direct replacement installation A load-bearing wall and a power supply nearby
Freestanding No drilling, no electrician, the unit moves and follows you if you move house A socket and one square meter of floor space

The freestanding model solves a problem that others ignore: in rentals, drilling into a bathroom wall is often not an option. A plug-in towel radiator settles the issue without work or authorization.

Conversely, recessing provides the most polished look but can never be undone. The body is installed during construction, with concealed wiring that requires cutting a channel. If the wall is already tiled, only wall-mounted or freestanding remains possible. Check the level during installation; a radiator installed crookedly is immediately noticeable on a tiled wall.

    Format, orientation, and wall footprint

The format is chosen based on the available wall length, not the room's surface area. A 40 cm wall between a door and a shower can only accommodate a vertical model, regardless of the bathroom's size.

    • Vertical: makes use of narrow walls, passageways, and tight widths. Gains capacity in height rather than width.
    • Horizontal: above a piece of furniture or under a window, when height is limited but length is free.
    • Compact: an ultra-narrow wall footprint, with usable space between the wall and the bar.
    • Foldable: reduced silhouette for daily use, upper part can be deployed when the volume of laundry increases.

The shape of the heating elements also varies: round tube for a classic look, flat blade for a contemporary line, solid panel for a massive look.

Measure the length of free wall before looking at models. This is the criterion that eliminates the most references. Common dimensions range from 40 to 60 cm in width for a vertical model, up to 90 cm for a horizontal one.

    Consumption and energy savings

A 500 W towel radiator used two hours a day consumes 1 kWh daily, or about 20 cents at the regulated rate. Over a seven-month heating season, this represents about forty euros.

Programming is the primary lever for savings, far ahead of technology. A device set to two 45-minute periods consumes two to three times less than the same device left running continuously. The second lever is sizing: an undersized model heats constantly without ever reaching its set point.

Three habits that reduce the bill

    • Program rather than maintain: bringing a small room back up to temperature costs less than continuous maintenance.
    • Close the door while heating; a bathroom with the door open heats the hallway.
    • Spin-dry laundry more thoroughly and unfold towels rather than folding them in half on the bar.

The energy performance of the room counts as much as the device. In a renovated home meeting current standards, a 500 W model is sufficient where an old, poorly insulated home will require 700 W.

    Wi-Fi, thermostat, and programming

App-based control changes consumption more than heating technology. Connected models are controlled from the Smart Life or Tuya apps: on/off, set temperature, device status, and especially recurring schedules. It is this last function that makes the difference on the electricity bill, because it eliminates forgetfulness.

Touch control is present across the entire range, including models without Wi-Fi. The integrated thermostat maintains the set temperature and cycles the heating element on and off. Connectivity adds remote programming; it does not replace local control.

    Design, colors, and material

The entire range is made of stainless steel, a choice that is not just cosmetic in a damp room: galvanized or painted steel eventually pits at the weld points, where steam stagnates.

Eight colors and finishes are available: brushed stainless steel, matte white, polished chrome, brushed copper, anthracite gray, brushed nickel, matte black, and brushed gold. Plenty to match the style of the unit to that of the faucets.

Matte black and gold, what you need to know

These finishes hide water spots and limescale much better than chrome, making them pleasant for daily use. However, they do not tolerate acidic products: no white vinegar, no bathroom descaler. A microfiber cloth and soapy water are enough, and you must wipe them dry rather than letting them air dry.

Price of an electric towel warmer

The range extends from €290 for a 65 W wall-mounted model to €540 for a three-bar recessed carbon fiber model. The price follows the heating technology and installation type more than power alone. A designer connected towel warmer is priced around €380 to €460 depending on the number of bars. The manufacturer's warranty covers the heating element and control electronics.

    Installation, standards, and electrical safety

An electric towel warmer must be installed outside the protection zones defined around the bathtub and shower, with an IP rating adapted to its location. Standards take precedence over all other considerations.

    1. Determine the zone in which the planned location is situated. Outside the zone, the constraint disappears.
    2. Choose the connection: plug for a wall-mounted or freestanding model, concealed wiring for a recessed one.
    3. Check the circuit: a heating device requires dedicated protection at the electrical panel.
    4. Drill and anchor according to the support, drywall, brick, or concrete, then check the level.
    5. Install at 110 cm from the finished floor, leaving at least 15 cm above for air circulation.

Connection to concealed wiring is done via a junction box, never a standard socket. For a freestanding model, the plug is sufficient and no electrician is needed.

    Frequently asked questions

How to choose the power of a towel warmer?

Count 100 W per square meter to heat the room, 50 to 60 W if the unit is only used to dry towels. Increase by 20% in a poorly insulated home. The number of bars counts as much as the watts; two towels per bar maximum.

What are the types of towel warmers?

Three families: autonomous electric, hot water connected to central heating, and dual-fuel. In electric, four technologies: heat-transfer fluid, radiant, carbon fiber, and fan-assisted. Three installations: recessed, wall-mounted, and freestanding.

How to install an electric towel warmer?

First, check that the location is outside the bathroom's protection zones. Anchor according to the support, check the level, install at 110 cm from the finished floor, leaving 15 cm above for air. A freestanding model plugs into a socket, with no drilling.

What are the advantages of an electric towel warmer?

It operates independently of the boiler, so all year round, including outside the heating season. It dries towels between uses, which limits damp odors, and programmable models only consume energy during chosen periods.

What is the price of an electric towel warmer?

The range extends from €290 for a 65 W wall-mounted model to €540 for a three-bar recessed carbon fiber model. The price follows the heating technology and installation type more than power alone.

What dimensions for a towel warmer?

First, measure the length of free wall; this is what eliminates the most models. A vertical format can accommodate 40 cm of width, a horizontal one requires more length but less height. Allow for 15 cm of clearance above.

What is the best electric towel warmer?

The one that matches your installation and surface area. A 65 W wall-mounted unit is sufficient in a small 4 m² room used for drying, a 130 W recessed unit is necessary to heat 8 m². The best choice is made based on power and installation type.

Does a fan-assisted towel warmer consume more?

The blower adds 600 to 1,000 W in instantaneous power, but it operates in short cycles on demand. Over the year, the difference remains moderate if it is not left running continuously.
